Lessons of Tuscany

Each Day is Different as You Discover more about the Wonder and Beauty of Tuscany !

Upon arrival you will experience the warmth of Il Borgo at a welcome drink where you meet staff and fellow guests for the week.

You will savour your first delicious sips of Chianti Toscana wine in the region where it was made.

Awake fresh in the morning to find a breakfast basket awaiting you. Eager to see the countryside? Your daily excursion awaits you. Would you like to concentrate on Florence or Siena? Transportation is provided during the week. And Il Borgo's on-site Campus Director can suggest specific places of interest.

Meals : Dinners include a three course meal, dessert, local wine (vino della casa), water and Italian coffee (espresso).

Tours and visits : The second daily tour will depart when the first tour has reached a minimum of twelve participants. English speaking guide and entrance fees to major artistic monuments will be provided for excursions with more than five participants.

Should scheduling changes occur, guests will be notified on arrival.

DAY 1 - Tuesday
Arrivals
Complimentary transportation from Florence to Villa Bossi-Pucci's Il Borgo resort in the small Tuscan village of Montagnana.
Transportation timetable schedule :
• Florence airport (La Peretola) - at 12 p.m. and at 2 p.m.
• Florence train station (Santa Maria Novella) - at 12:30 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m.
"Welcome to Il Borgo" toast and Lessons of Tuscany's program briefing. Afternoon market in the piazza of Il Borgo and free time to stroll Villa Bossi-Pucci's centuries-old park and the small village of Montagnana.
Afternoon classes
• Tuscan Art and History (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Dine in a local restaurant. Transportation included.

DAY 2 - Wednesday
Morning visits
Sightsee the medieval towns of Chianti, San Gimignano and Certaldo, or the ancient town of Lucca. Transportation included.
Afternoon classes
• Conversational Italian (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Tuscan Cooking (5 - 7 p.m.)
• Photography (sunset)
Dinner
Tuscan buffet dinner at Il Borgo.

DAY 3 - Thursday
Morning visits
Visit the Chianti region, from Greve to Volpaia, from Castellina to Montefioralle, or Tuscany's medieval jewel : Siena. Transportation included.
Afternoon classes
• Conversational Italian (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Tuscan Art and History (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Dine in a typical Tuscan restaurant. Transportation included.

DAY 4 - Friday
Morning visits
Choose a trip either to the ancient town of Lucca or visit the medieval towns of Chianti : San Gimignano and Certaldo. Transportation included.
Afternoon classes
• Conversational Italian (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Tuscan Cooking (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Dine in a local Tuscan trattoria. Transportation included.

DAY 5 - Saturday
Morning visits
Choose the excursion to Florence, the heart of Renaissance or the maritime republic : Pisa. Transportation included.
Afternoon classes
• Ceramic Painting (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Watercolours (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Wine Lessons (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Candlelight dinner at Il Poggio Restaurant whose terraces overlook Tuscany. Transportation included.

DAY 6 - Sunday
Morning visits
Visit Tuscany's medieval jewel : Siena or sightsee the Chianti region, from Greve to Volpaia, from Castellina to Montefioralle. Transportation and lunch included.
Morning classes
• Photography (dawn)
Afternoon classes
• Ceramic Painting (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Watercolours (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Wine Lessons (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Special dinner in the medieval private Castello di Santa Maria Novella. Transportation included.

DAY 7 - Monday
Morning visits
Sightsee the maritime republic : Pisa or Florence, the heart of Renaissance. Transportation ncluded.
Afternoon classes
• Conversational Italian (3 - 5 p.m.)
• Tuscan Cooking (5 - 7 p.m.)
Dinner
Dine in a typical Tuscan restaurant. Transportation included.

DAY 8 - Tuesday
Departures
Check out within 10 am.
Complimentary transportation is provided from Il Borgo to Florence airport or train station.
