A vacation village

Chianti Toscana, south of Florence, is only thirty minutes away from Michelangelo's David.

Il Borgo stands on the grounds of a 17th-century country estate established by Florence's distinguished Bossi-Pucci family. Over the centuries, the estate became the largest wine producer of Chianti in the region, its vineyards and olive groves stretching for hundreds of acres.

The property's original park with its centuries-old shade trees and graceful open spaces enhance the magnificent surroundings the guests of Il Borgo will enjoy. The family villa and the celebrated cellars are now being restored to their original grace and several farmhouses, originally built to house Villa Bossi-Pucci's workers, have been reconstructed and converted to Il Borgo.

Il Borgo ('the village') has the ambience of a typical Tuscan community. Constructed of materials that include pilloli (a large river pebble), pietra serena (soft grey marble), cotto (Tuscan red bricks) and mattonelle (locally produced tiles).

Il Borgo distinctive architecture matches the integrity of the original structures.

And while you may find yourself drawn to the open-air piazza where fresh bread is put out to cool, for your pleasure and convenience there is also a Tuscan reference library, an Internet centre, an exercise room, jogging trails and parking. And Il Borgo's friendly, helpful staff is reachable 24 hours a day.
